Our Process

We believe that when someone needs help, you help them. It’s that simple. Here’s what you can expect if you hire an experienced, trusted attorney from Wayside Legal. Just as you go through stages in your life, so does your legal matter.

Step One: contact us and tell us your story.

Call us, email us, fill out one of the forms on our website - it’s fast and it’s free. We want to know about you and what type of legal issue you have, so we know how best to help. If you phone, we will usually be able to schedule an attorney meeting right then and there. Otherwise, we will give you a call back as soon as possible, usually on the same day.

Step Two: the initial consultation.

Your initial consultation will be the first time you speak with an attorney at Wayside Legal. We offer three types of initial consultation, from free to paid. During your initial consultation, and continuing if you hire us, we will get details from you to help with your case. We will also determine your legal objectives. During this first meeting, we will spend 30 minutes to 2 hours with you.

Step Three: hiring us.

The next step is for us to send you our client information documents, including a detailed questionnaire and contract for legal services. These will confirm our charges in writing and explain exactly where you stand with us and how we will work with you. You then may choose to engage our firm by signing the contract for legal services; or you may choose to take some time to reflect before moving ahead. When you return the contract for legal services and initial payment, you have hired Wayside Legal.

Step Four: strategic planning.

Once you hire us, we will start work, and immediately plan for the legal objectives we previously identified. This usually involves a review of your documents and an initial meeting with you to give you legal advice and practical guidance about next steps and potential legal issues. We will collect more information from you and others and begin preparing for those issues. After listening to your needs, plans and goals, your attorney will generally make some recommendations. As we gather more information, we will have more specific recommendations and create a case strategy.

Step Five: implementing the strategy.

This step can require some patience. In many instances, our work has a predictable start and end date. Sometimes, however, your case will be put through the rigors of the legal system. While each case is different, your attorney will continue to advocate on your behalf for as long as necessary.

As your case progresses, rest assured that we will keep you informed of any updates and changes, as well as the status of your case. We do what’s right for you and your case, including drafting any necessary documents, preparing pleadings, corresponding with appropriate attorneys, court personnel, and third parties, appearing at any court proceedings, and obtaining a successful resolution on your behalf.
